Californians to Fast for Peace

In Salinas, California the mayor has asked that the town consider fasting July 20-July 26. He is asking that each resident give up something rather than a generic fasting from food. He is leading this cause in order to seek blessing and reprieve from the rapid rise of drugs, gangs, and violence in the past few years.
Do you think that God still honors fasting (this is a unique form not like in the bible) like in the days of old with Ninevah and with Esther and her people etc? Full Story
