Judgement: How will we be Judged?
July 28, 2008
Have you ever considered on what criteria you will be judged? Will it be based on what you believe? The bible says that even the devils ‘believe’ …in Christ, The Great Controversy between Christ and Satan, evil, sin…The devil and his angels believe all that. The devil believes in the ‘Eternal Law of God’ …so clearly believing and doing are different.
But the bible in Matthew 25 seems to show us a few examples that deal with Judgement. The story of the 10 virgins, the story of the Talents, and the lastly the story of the sheep and goats. Interestingly enough, it was pointed out the other day to me that this last story is not a dividing of the evil and good because the symbolism is clean animals: Sheep and goats, both in the sacrificial system.
So why not sheep and hogs? That would have made it very clear who Jesus was talking about. May I suggest that this story as the others in Matthew 25 are speaking of people within the church and who believe they are the truest of all religions on the earth in the last days.
I have been challenged by the words in Matthew 25 especially in regards to how God will ’sort’ us with those who did it unto one of the least of these…then we have done it unto Him. I can’t say I have always believed that and so realizing I won’t walk right into the pearly gates based on what I say I believe but based on how I act in my life and how I treat those less fortunate than me. When was the last time you clothed someone? or Fed someone on in need? or gave someone some money? Or visited someone who was sick? or went to encourage someone in prison?
