Show me the money?
July 14, 2008
I heard a great sermon this morning on money. It affects us all. When asked what they would like in a new church, many who are unchurched will say ” I wish they didn’t talk so much about money…or ask for my money.”
Now to anyone who has read the new testament you will see that out of about 45 parables, Jesus speaks on some facet of money in 38 of the 45. That is to me a strong reason to understand what the bible has to say about money. Wanting more of it never leads to happiness. Having too little always seems to lead to want and greed.
They say that the only cure for materialism is charity and a giving heart. So my question for you is how much have you spent on entertainment in the last month? Have you given at least that much or more to God and spreading the gospel? If not, your priorities are off. If you are telling and believing that Jesus is coming soon and yet you are spending your money as if He is many years out…then how can others know you are really believing what you say you believe?
Abraham was known to be very wealthy yet he lived in a tent because he was looking forĀ an eternal home. Are you?
