Protection of the work-free Sunday:
MEPs launch Written Declaration
A part of the European cultural heritage of longstanding tradition and high value, the work-free Sunday is a decisive factor in balancing work and family life. It is of fundamental importance for family relations, but also for social and cultural life to safeguard one of the few remaining times which can be shared by children and their parents. According to EU law, Sunday is the weekly rest day for children and adolescents (1). That is why respect for Sunday rest has the potential to be a pillar of the European social model.
In recent years, the protection of Sunday has been eroded in many Member States, with the purpose of increasing production and consumption. Workers have experienced fragmentation of their private lives, while small and medium-sized enterprises, which cannot afford uninterrupted opening hours have lost ground in the market place. Accordingly this declaration now introduced into parliament calls on the Member States and on the EU institutions to “protect Sunday, as a weekly rest day, in forthcoming national and EU working-time legislation in order to enhance the protection of workers’ health and the reconciliation of work and family life”.
In order to be adopted, it is now necessary for the Written Declaration to be signed by a majority (394) of MEPs before 7 May 2009.

Article 116 of the Rules of Procedure of the European Parliament stipulates that a Written Declaration is a text of a maximum 200 words presented by a maximum of 5 MEPs and submitted to all MEPs for a period of 3 months. If the Declaration collects a majority of signatures, it becomes on official act of the European Parliament and is then transmitted to the addressees that are cited.

What a grandstand play into Pope Benedict’s hands. The Catholic Church will applaud this move as they are initially the church to have the audacity to change God’s Holy Sabbath Day, the same day that he wrote with his own finger on tables of stone.. Now the stage is all set for America to fall right in line and follow suit and eventually make the Sunday law a mandatory day of worship. What our forefathers fought for, “Religious Freedom and Liberty” will be stripped from us true sabbath keepers and will eventually we who keep God’s precious 10 commandments will be persecuted for keeping the one commandment that starts with the word “REMEMBER.” My admiration for the Reformers who had the bravery to stand against the Catholic Church and be martyred and burned at the stake for truth. Despite my respect for these individuals they overlooked one very important, in fact the most important command of God and that was the Fourth which thru the years the Catholic Church has boastfully acknowledged they had changed God’s precious commands just as prophesied by the prophet Daniel.

No such honor was given to the day by Christ or His apostles. The observance of Sunday as a Christian institution has its origin in that “mystery of lawlessness” which, even in Paul’s day, had begun its work. Then we’ll know that the sunday become a legal day of worship now it’ll be time to declare it as “Mark of Beast.”

If you log on to the EU Parliment, you will find that they could not get the neccessary votes. I was impressed with how easy it was to research. Look under Agenda for that week for additional details.
We are told in the Bible that just as in Noah’s day everyday life will be taking place all around us as the time draws Nigh. We cannot afford to be found sleeping, there is nothing of greater importance than excepting Christ’s mission for our lives. We are surrounded with people who do not either know Christ or they have been fed false doctrines and are sorely mislead. Why we waste our time in movies and tv is know surprise, we are sleeeeep walking through the last critical days. WAKE UP, we don’t need another sign.
I am trying to search out whether or not EU Parliament voted on the work free Sunday decloration? I went to the EU Parliament web site nothing was found anywhere on that site about a Work free sunday! Is this all garbage being spread or is this happening because it sure is has ZERO attention being brought to it????
Present Truth makes it difficult to contact them! I have a problem with the things they say on their web site….The Catholic church HAS NOT PASSED A SUNDAY LAW IN EUROPE, nor IS ANY SUCH THING BEING ENFORCED! Good mornin people.. I was just thinking…Heres a thought…Are you REALLY ready for whats coming? Are your feet rooted in Gods word and his promises of deliverance from the coming prophetic “time of trouble”? Im not being negative or trying to scare anyone, I just wanted to know what you think.. Reason why I ask is because Peter walked with Jesus, he saw all those miracles, BUT when the heat was on, he feared for his life and denied Christ… Then theres David who fought Goliath…When the heat was on he rose to the occasion and defeated the Giant, that everyone else feared… Me personally, I hope that Im like David when the heat is finally turned up. This is from the “Free Library” website (not an SDA site)on an article entitled “Church groups push EU to approve Sunday law” – “Protestant, Catholic and Orthodox religious leaders have urged the European Union to approve legislation mandating Sunday as a weekly day of rest…”. I don’t think Present Truth is sensationalizing issues that the Catholic church has arrogantly and blatantly campaigned for it to be mandated in whichever form or manner.
