Looking for hypocrites? Look inside the church

Don’t judge the whole article by the title. Though it may sum up what the biggest issue is with the Christian church. The state of the church and the state of the nations depend on what we do to fix this problem. The line of distinction between the world and Christians…has dissappeared.

I was blessed to be able to lead a study this past weekend on Revelation 3 in regards to the church of ‘Laodicea’. The name actually means ‘A people of the jugdgment, or a people judged’. Check out this statement:

The message to the church of the Laodiceans applies especially to the people of God today. It is a message to professing Christians who have become so much like the world that no difference can be seen. Review and Herald 9/20/1903.

Ok, so here is the crazy part. That statement above was written over 106 years ago. Imagine how much more umph the author could add today. We are a joke. I have dear friends that don’t come to church not because they were offended but because “what is the point, I am better off sleeping in. Notice that I did not say, I am better off reading my bible at home or listening to a sermon online. Those do happen but the vast majority have lost any reason to attend church.

I mentioned this before about Rockefeller saying that the biggest waste of real estate in the world was church buildings. We are in trouble and something has to change quickly. The clock until distinction is ticking louder than ever. Why is it that we so often as denominations want to rant and rave about baptisms here and there and yet the truth is this: We are losing members quicker than gaining new ones. It is not our sole duty to baptize people. We as Christians living in the last days are called to give a warning message of 3 angels to the entire world. We are not called to just be a bunch of number fans looking to reach 20 million members or whatever number you want to throw out there.

The problem comes in with the solution to this issue. Many will say our bibilical ’strong’ message of Righteousness by Faith and lifting up a Savior that came to ‘take away the sin of the world’….this is being changed.

We have preachers watering down so much bible truth that it makes me want to puke. Funny enough that is the same expression Jesus used in Revelation 3:16, because of our lukewarmness.

We have thought that it would be ok to live like the world, dress like the world, listen like the world, watch like the world and than somehow we would be changed in the twinkling of an eye. That is not biblical. Jesus did not get his beard ripped out, spikes ripping through his hands and feet, have a spear pierce his side and thorns shoved into his head so that we could continue loving and living in sin like we always have. The Bible says :John 1:29

… Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

It does not say, Behold..keep sinning and Jesus will die so you can do that and then keep sinning some more.

We as Christians have made a mockery of the Christian faith. We have a generation that honestly has no reason to come to our churches. What would they gain from it? Would they see a people that love each other and are accepting? I think not.

This is a rebuke to me first and foremost. I have a burden for friends and those that I have shown a poor example to. We have to make a decision: are we going to live it up in this life or put it all on the alter…take up our cross….and seek the kingdom of God?

The choice is yours….the choice is mine. If….we are going to call ourselves by the name of Christian, then we must know that the bible calls us to a higher standard that we have not lived up to. The third commandments says that we should not ‘take’ the name of the Lord thy God in vain. Translation….We are not to call ourselves ‘of God’ or Christ-ians unless we are planning on following whatever He shows us and calls us to.

Make a decision. Jesus wants us to be Cold or Hot. Cold is knowing that we are freezing and need the warmth of something…or Someone.

Hot is being passionate about the Kingdom of God and walking in the path that is laid out for us.

Lukewarmness is our state. Hypocrisy is our motto..Let’s seek Christ and Behold the lamb of God…He can and will change us to be more like Him.

Be encouraged…We have a soon coming Savior that will help us prepare to meet Him

One Response to “Looking for hypocrites? Look inside the church”

  1. Rochelle says:

One can distinctly hear the voice of a loving God calling us to be either in the river or the bank. As a teen, our pastor use to tell us either we should truly become Christian or don’t waste our time coming to church. He said either choose the world or the church, but don’t straddle the fence. He would say it with such passion in his voice and I use to think he was a bit too harsh with that statement. Now, I couldn’t agree with him more.

Praise God for the article, the Bible says faithful are the wounds of a friend and whom the Lord love He chastens! I always need to be reminded…

This is really intense so be prepared. It is interesting to note that Buddhism teaches in the last days that Maitreya would come. The foundation is being prepared for some serious deceptions.
