Congresswoman Bachmann, Thank you for standing up and speaking the truth. I whole hearted agree with you. We need to humble ourselves as a country to our Heavenly Father and get America back to God first. May God bless you for your witness and testimony. Diane

  2. Theresa says:

AND WHAT MAKES YOU THING THIS WOMAN IS BRAVE?????

Please tell this jerk who is making these statements she doesn’t know what she is talking about. My nephew goes to Georgetown and he never said anything about Obama denying God. this woman has always been crazy and interpretates exactly how she wants to …… It is most of our Republican politicians that want GOD out of lives – keeping him private, not mentioning his name and keeping it off the currency in this county —– So please tell her that she take time out and read exactly what he said and stop telling stories — just like many time over. AMEN and GOD bless America

  3. Judith says:

Congresswoman Bachmann is selective in the extreme. She should have read Thomas Jefferson’s seminal Letter to the Danbury Baptists (1802) in which he articulated the doctrine of separation of church and state. Congresswoman Bachmann will hopefully return to Minnesota where only a tiny fraction of her otherwise enlightened, tolerant and well-read constituents believe that President Obama is anything other than a man of deep spiritual and Christian beliefs. She would do well to read more of the New Testament and less of Leviticus.

  4. Bob Tolliver says:

Contrary to Theresa’s comment above, Representative never made any reference whatsoever to President Obama denying God. I don’t know where she got the idea. I watched the tape through three times and it simply isn’t there. As to President Obama, I’m still waiting to see genuine evidence that he has anything more than head knowledge of the Christian faith. However, as all Americans should, I will continue praying for him that he will be a wise, truthful, and effective president.

  5. Bob Tolliver says:

As to Judith’s remark about Thomas Jefferson’s statement to the Danbury Baptists in 1802, if she will read the letter carefully in its entirety for herself, she’ll quickly recognize that, first of all, Jefferson was not speaking for the nation, but was speaking as to his personal observation that is well articulated in the First Ammendment, and that is there should be a separation that does not allow government to dictate full and free expression of religion. Secondly, Jefferson was a strong proponent that Christian faith had an important and needed place in shaping political decisions. It really helps to see the whole picture instead of relying on “sound bytes” that secularists and liberals portray as truth.

  6. Dave says:

Judith, you hoist with your own petard, and use facts with disingenuous intent. You would do well to study with clarity of understanding what separation of church and state was intended to mean from it’s inception: to keep government out of religion, not to keep religion out of government.

  7. Jennifer says:

I researched this and I believe President Obama’s staff had the name of Jesus covered up in one area of the hall where he spoke, but not in all areas. Beside this area in which wasn’t well researched I believe that the Congresswoman did a good job in just reminding us the foundations of this country. I believe President Obama should respect the beliefs of the institutions he is visiting. Is Allah’s name being covered up if and when he visits a Muslim temple? I don’t believe that request was a fair one for the university. They have a right to believe what they believe under our constitution.

  8. marty says:

    Dave,

Who are you trying to impress? You need to run for office. You are very adept at writing big words and not saying anything.

By the way, before you launch a tirade at me for being something less than yourself, I am a Vice President of a major midwest company and hold an MBa and a BS in Chemistry from Penn State Univ.

  9. Richard Dale says:

The congresswoman’s remarks were a refreshing sound coming
from Washington these days–or coming from anywhere else in this country. Thank you for sharing it with the rest of us!

  10. David says:

What happened to separation of Church and state?
The Obamites sing the praises of the separation philosophy but are first to cover Jesus’ face at a Catholic University. That is what I call Government oppression upon our belief system. That was the purpose of separation ideology-

  11. Shirley Shaffer says:

The thing that amazes me most here is how heated people get about politics! What I’ve personally concluded is that the people who are the most savage in their comments are usually the most “wrong.” The rest of us have lives.
    And faith. And therefore, balance.

  12. Shirley Shaffer says:

May I apologize? I myself was caustic. And therefore, “wrong.”

The Congresswoman apparently narrowly interprets the word “prayer” in her participation in “the prayer caucus.” While I appreciate her historic reminders, I still admire Obama’s adroit wording is his interface with “the world.” “Shared values.” Works for me.

  13. Katherine Wilson says:

Obama,What Congress woman Michele Bachmann said goes for me too. You shouldn’t EVER cover up Jesus for anything. How would you feel if your picture was covered up? I am a Christian too.
