Do you ever have something that just totally jumps out at you while you are studying the bible? I have a good one as of recent and I will share below.
I am intently studying the books of Daniel and Revelation. We live in a world where no one seems to no what is going on and since God knows the end from the beginning, I figured that I would seek His wisdom to understand all these events. I have come to the conclusion through my studies of Revelation 13 that without a doubt, there must be a great economic collapse before the end comes. This will usher in a time when the ‘beast’ can control us via our money supply-Revelation 13:16,17-
16And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
17And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
So that study I started has led me on to continue studying and trying to make sense of everything. The most recent thing that I have been looking into is the details in and around BABYLON THE GREAT.
Revelation 18 really goes into it and in verse 23 it says this:
23And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.
I want you to notice the way in which all the nations were deceived. Now the bible speaks in majorities. We can see from the book of Revelation that God will have a small group of people that are not deceived. The way in which the nations are deceived is through ’sorceries’. I have made it a new habit to look at any word and go and look up it’s original greek or hebrew context and meaning. The Newer Testament is originally in Greek. So when you look up the Greek of the word -Sorceries- it says this:
5331 φαρμακεία, φάρμακον [pharmakeia /far·mak·i·ah/] n f. From 5332; GK 5758 and 5760; Three occurrences; AV translates as “sorcery” twice, and “witchcraft” once. 1 the use or the administering of drugs. 2 poisoning. 3 sorcery, magical arts, often found in connection with idolatry and fostered by it. 4 metaph. the deceptions and seductions of idolatry.
The word Sorcery or Sorceries is only used 6 times in the entire bible. The other four examples refer primarily to the practice of communicating with the dead aka necromancy. This was done in order to see of future events or find out answers. It is still practiced today and even the majority of the christian world believes that dead ones can speak to us if they want to. This is not biblical.
Of those 6 times that the word Sorcery or Sorceries is used, it is used in reference to ’speaking to the dead’ in the first four examples in the bible but not in the last two. The last two are derived from the same word and they are mentioned in the book of Revelation in Rev 9:21 and 18:23. The last two are derived from the definition above. They are derived from pharmakeia /far·mak·i·ah/ and look at the primary definition listed first and also the second. It deals heavily with the adminisration of drugs or poisons. For me this was an eye opener.
Do you realize how powerful the modern day ‘drug companies’ or can we say -pharmaceutical companies are? Do you realize how many people around the world are daily on a regimen that includes these drugs that are being manufactured by the billions of pills each and every day. It seems as though the more sick the world gets, the more pills, potions, lotions, injections, vaccines, etc that we are sold.
I am not making this up. You can read in your bible and in the greek the root word and the definition. This is another facet of Babylon the Great. It is a direct contradiction with God’s plan of the original diet and way of life as prescribed in the creation week. We are to treat the body as the temple of the holy spirit. If we are putting things into it that are poisonous or harmful is this not injuring the temple?
I know there are some rare drugs that may be an exception to the rule, but these are in the minority. The large majority of drugs are given because the person has violated the natural laws of health.
Christ paid the infinite price for each of us and the bible says in 3 John 1:2-2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.
This is clear evidence that Christ wants our physical health in the here and now to be as good as our spiritual health. Christ wants us to be healthy and with a sharp mind so that we will not be deceived. Matthew 24 is riddled over and over again to not be deceived in the last days. Babylon the Great will decieve with -sorceries- or modern day drugs/poisons via pharmaceuticals. What we do with this information is our ultimate choice.

I’m really glad I cam across your blog. I’ve been studying Revelation and Daniel quite a bit as well, following our most recent economic recession, and have come to the exact same conclusion as you have. There definitely will have to be an economic disaster so great that it causes a complete overhaul of the current system, transforming our currency from paper to purely electronic. And what you said about the pharmacies is hauntingly accurate I’m afraid as well. My mom calls prescription drugs “chemical whips.” Things could get very scary before too long. Thanks for spreading the truth.

I believe in the context given “sorcery” was either talking to the dead for insight or taking drugs to induce “visions” to find out about the future. This is why the Greek word root is found in the word “pharmacy”. Don’t try to make scripture say something that it isn’t.
I have known this truth for a long time. I believe you are correct with your opinions. Just look at Daniel and his three frineds’ diet under Nebuchadnezzer’s rule. At the end of the test, they were noted as being 10 times better in every area of their body, especially mentally. Their diet appears to be vegan (no animal products) which was the orignial diet and will be the only diet in heaven and on the new earth.
Hey Jared, in chapter 16 its says “All” so I guessing that also includes Gods chosen people. In chapter 17 it looks like theres 3 things Gods people need to watch out for. I know what to do to avoid the “mark” but can you please help explain avoiding the “name of the beast” and “number of his name” parts of chapter 17..Thanks
Actually guy the reason why it’s name is pharmaceutical is because modern medicine originated with alchemy. They have similar symbols too. So the source of modern medicine is sorcery. Also remember the term sorcery can be a board term.
1 Samuel 15:23 “For rebellion is a the sin of witchcraft…”
So anything that causes the mind to not obey the will of God is sorcery.
I just finished a natural remedies one-week workshop. God is definitely calling people back to His original plan, of course it is healthier and holier. I’ve never felt so strongly about how important it is that we learn more about and follow God’s remedies. According to the FDA- 192,000 Americans will lose their lives each year from pharmaceutical drugs, that’s more than die in a war. Also, 51% of approved pharmaceutical drugs have serious side effects prior to their release. There are so many aspects, this is not even touching on chemicals found in our modern foods – natural flavors, food coloring, preservatives, pesticides, etc. And all this is so that Satan can deaden and control us when the real hard times come. We need to seek, learn, and do God’s remedies for health of body and mind.
All that is mentioned in Revelation 13:16 & 17 does not refer to those that are in Christ. If you look at verse 18, Those have true wisdom and understanding will not receive the mark. Also look at John chapter 17. John 17:14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
We are in the world, but not of the world, so we are not counted with that “all” in verse 16.
Also in Revelation 12:9. it says that the devil deceiveth the whole world, again, we are not of the world, so this does not refer to the saints of God.

My sister watched a documentary on depression related drugs. She was shocked. I haven’t seen it yet, but we are going to watch it at our next CARE Group. I will share this insight there. Having a clear mind is critical to understanding God’s Word. Thanks for sharing Jared.

Pharmaceutical interpretation of ’sorceries’ has been around for a awhile now…New definition of the acronym M.D.after a doctors name? No longer Medical Doctor, but rather ‘More Drugs’
I’ve studied this topic for many years and this is one of those “subjects” that are untouchable for Ministers because 50 PLUS % of the Church is on some regular regiment of taking “DRUGS”.Once I visited the ER after an auto accident for insurance purposes and the on staff doctor whips out his trusty prescrp pad and casual says “here..you will need to take these THE REST OF YOUR LIFE”!!!? I was there for a sprained thumb!Why trust God when I can just take a pill.???
This is wrong. Saying why trust God when I can just take a pill … Thats a little harsh don’t you think. Just because the brain is not a physical part of the body does not mean sin has messed with the chemicals in our brains as well. Grant it all the medication might not be needed. How many people would say that if it was a heart condition, take these pills and it will help slow your heart down or don’t take the pill’s pray about it, and work on increasing your faith because apparently if there is a problem with faith not a problem because we live in a sinful world. This issue is not as black and white as some may think, and you think it is try walking a mile in someone’s shoes who has gone through depression and then make a judgment. Truthfully some of these responses remind me of what Jobs friends told him.
It seem like some of the comments in this blog are anti-physicians…coz physicians give drugs. I knew of one person who was so anti-physician.. when one day he broke his bone and needed to be given an anesthesia. He was so adamant and refused the drug (believed as sorcery) initially and just wanted to fixed the bone without. The pain was so intense that he beg the physician to give him one. Well, he was glad afterwards he made the right decision. \nA natural remedy person who visited Africa (together with his wife) who were strong anti-drug advocates and many times quoted this sorcery in Revelation. Guess what, the wife developed malaria in Africa and died coz the husband refused to give her anti-malarial drugs. Another person who was part of the team who also developed malaria took the drug and survived. You have to make distinction between fanaticism and sanity. God has given us a nutshell to make decisions based on what is reasonable and sensible (“come and let us reason together”).Don’t get me wrong, I love herbs and natural remedies. My point is some sort of sanity…. and not stereotyping because drug is evil, then physicians who give it are evil. Remember, Mrs White received small pox vaccine and received radiation treatment…and mentioned she was glad for these treatments. As Sister White puts it…”time and pace must be considered”.
I knew a guy who worshiped satan and he told me the devil wanted something in the world like Christ came into the world. That something is LSD.
Revelation 13 verses 15 through 17 seem to identify the one that will control our economics as being the “image” beast.
those tha would call themselves high priests, doctors/teachers are false and would seek to put viruses and parasites/evil spirits within you, do not be decieved by the vaccines. our holy oil shall be a abbomination to all of them. Make sure you have anough oil for your lamps/body
I have understood this meaning for sorcery for quite some time. I don’t bring it up very much because of the controversy, however, now that there is the new health bill being kicked around I think it stands a closer look by the critics. In the last days, we know that we won’t be able to buy or sell. Wouldn’t that include our health care?
I have also been guided into recent discovery of the Pharmacuetical industry, AMA, FDA, banking system (the Federal Reserve System, private bank.)Im convinced that this health care bill is meant by the enemy to control our lives first through taking money and indebtness and second in the conterfeit of the true health message. We have been programed that we must have health insurance! Right now the Government owns 50% of the mortgages thru Fannie and Freddie Mac, 18 million people I believe are on food stamps. If you look at real numbers for the current promises os Medicare, SSI, and Presciption drug plan each man woman and child owes some $346,000 in future unpayable debt! We need to wake up to the time we live in! May God have mercy on our souls!
I am a Penticostal Evangelist and one year ago , The Holy Spirit gave me a message called “The deception of Sorcery”. I preach in the prison ministry in many different jails and have preached this sermon many times with amazing results . It comes from Rev 18 and in Acts 8: 1-12 the story of Simon the Sorcer is also a big part of it. If you look at verse 6-7 , all the people of Samaria are deceived because they look at Simon and say he is the great power of God, in verse 7, many have palsies which is to be paralized which is what many people that over dose have happen to them. I pray that this generation will open their eyes .
