Germany and this Sunday Law Business-Someone please show me why this should matter?

I have had at least 10 people send me the same type of links to a few sites covering the news that Germany will be instituting a more enforced approach to Sunday observance laws. What does this mean? Well it depends on who you ask.
There is alot of stir over this thing but I have to ask how it effects me? I am sad to say that in the majority of cases, news like this only tends to scare people. I hadn’t posted anything on it due to something that I have started to really believe. What is it that would make me say something so crazy? I guess it is Revelation 13. I understand that there may be news worthy items around the world like this that lay the ground work for the National Sunday Law that will come to pass one day. The thing is that it will begin in the United States. Shouldn’t all eyes be on the United States? Once we start discussing enforcing a day of worship then there is reason to be of concern. Notice that the U.S already has the necessary laws on the books, it is just a matter of enforcing them.
Let’s go back to this though. Am I being blind to the news around? I don’t think so. Here is why. Like I said before, I keep my eyes on the U.S. If we start some crazy talk out in the open like this going on in Germany then that is reason to perk the ears. I would like to tell you that I think there is something even more important than that though…you and I.
We are at the center of this war. This Great Controversy was not started over a sunday law. It was started over whether God was fair and whether His law was fair. It will end on the same points. So having read Revelation 13 and 14, I see something of more importance that a German Sunday Law. Something called Revival.
Let me ask you a very personal question. Take all of the time you have spent searching and reading the news in the past week and compare that to how much you have contemplated the life of Christ. How about compare it to how much time you have served the needs of the poor and suffering around you. If there is an imbalance then we are in trouble. I have a hard time finding enough time for things that matter in this world and then I turn on the news..(I am smiling because you and I both know the news will make you want to kill yourself in about 5 minutes-I am being extreme but it is depressing)
Let’s focus on Christ. Plain and simple. Let’s live like Him. Let’s love like Him and then I believe He will do a great work through those who are daily making time for Him. You may say you know Christ..but does Christ know you? If I could call Him up and ask Him, would He he say “oh yes, john or susie so and so, they are always doing my will. They serve others, they don’t waste time on the news that is distracting, they are mine”.
I would hope He would say that. Unfortunately, we can get so caught up in life that we barely have time for that daily experience with Christ. Praying, Studying, and also Contemplating/Meditating and doing some real soul searching so that tomorrow will be better than today.
This is my passion and desire. I am tired of fear killing the Christian joy and hope and peace. We are going to live forever…let’s start living with that hope that is visible in our lives. Israel, Iran, Pope, Sunday Law, can all become a distraction if they take up more time than our walk with God.

Great Post jared, the sunday law not suppose to scare us its to makes us exicted but at the same time to search or hearts and see where we are lacking and ask God to fill us. EGW says there will be some that preach the present truth will be left without the seal of God that’s scary. When i received the email last night on the Germany sunday law. I started searching my heart. to see where i lack where i need to step up and seek God more endeavouring by God’s grace to make that daily committment to spent time morning and evening in prayer and in God’s word and bringing my family to the altar morning and evening as well. This sunday law is a blowing of the wind as mention in Rev:7. Brethen we really need to search our hearts and spend time in God’s word. EGW says is only those that fortify their minds in the word will be able to stand. Jesus is soon to come may he find us faithful, bye Your brother in Christ.
I sent it to some people, because I honestly got a bit excited about it. I guess old habits die hard, but Jesus is still way more important than any of this.
Thats true, we should live a more joyous,fearless life…But be careful not to fall asleep..Jesus did say that terrible times are coming and his people will be killed and hated of all nations..when that time comes we should not be scared of what will happen to ourself,(Luke 17:32 Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it),
but be thinking “I hope I did EVERYTHING possible to share the Gospel to my fellow man,and if I took advantage of EVERY opportunity that came my way”…SDA’s have known for years about the Pope,Sunday law,Matthew 24, 2Timothy 3,The 3 Angels message etc, but do non adventist know? To be honest I am sick of Adventist preaching to Adventist! Until the message goes to the whole world the End would not happen in this lifetime.. The one thing that scares me is retaliating like Peter did in Gethsemane. This verse rings in my ear constantly..Matthew 5:39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also..
Every time I approach someone and tell them about this Sunday Law coming they look at me like I am crazy. They all say the same thing…. “What are you talking about that there is a Sunday Law coming..?”

It is news like this one that gives us the opportunity to spread the good news and the Sabbath truth. Yet… I am seeing a trend now which is pretty scary. Adventists have been preaching for so long now about Jesus coming soon and the Sunday Law that they no longer believe it themselves. While it is true that the gospel, meaning the good news is all about the fact that Jesus died for us so that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have ever lasting life (in a nutshell), we need to not forget the 3 angel’s message…. It is absolutely critical at the time of the end.
All of the sudden we are to not focus on the things that the church has been preaching for so long.

We have heard Jesus say when we see all these things lift up your heads, because your redemption is at hand..
In Matthew we read “For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in diverse places. …”
Yet we no longer believe…
It will not do much good to tell people about a Sunday law coming after it has already been put into effect.
JR and KIWI God bless you both. I agree. This sunday law message is part of the loud cry. Perhaps IS the loud cry. Our nation has been on a long mission for the last four or five decades to mimick the ways of europe. If it is happening there, you are foolish to believe that it wont happen here. Besides, its prophecy. This message does NOT take away from the time i spend with Christ, it enhances it. When you are far from our savior, it is hard to try and share this message again and again. Because like JR said, they look at you like you’re crazy. And even though things continue to converge into the EXACT picture that we have been warning of for years, they turn a blind eye. And thats why we MUST share these developments.
I would like to comment on the statement ‘ Until the message goes to the whole world the End would not happen in this lifetime.. ”…\n\nthis is what many believe but yet we are told that the gospel has already gone to the whole world… that happened in the first century…\n\nThat is not the reason Christ hasn’t returned…there is something deeper that we are missing and it has not one thing to do with a preaching of the gospel with our voices…\n\nit has to do with a people living the gospel like Christ has called us to. “When the character of Christ shall be perfectly reproduced in His people, then He will come to claim this as His own-COL 69. This is not a 2nd coming, this is a coming to empower us to finish the work. \n\nIf we think it is a preaching that needs to be done then we will be here until the day we die and a million generations will come and go. We are losing the battle based on numbers. we cannot catch up with our current methods. We need Christ to step in…immediately

The Willard and Kelly Santee messages from the Last Day Events Weekend which I downloaded from this site really gave me a new perspective on this issue. If we just focus on Sunday laws and the events transpiring around us, we are likely missing the whole issue of what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ TODAY, and keeping our eyes focused upon Him. Is the all-important question when is Jesus coming, or should it rather be, am I living completely for Him today and allowing Him to transform every area of my life into His image? In this context the when somehow seems less important.
Personally I think we need balance in our thinking upon end time event. What I mean is, I have friends who fill my email account with every political article etc that is out there, when I see them, their only focus and conversations are about these issues. They are so excited about the signs and spending their energies in that direction, but are actually not doing anything to promote the 3AM to those around them. Sabbaths are not spent speaking about Jesus, but about the,”signs”…and they consider that as OK,
Jared I think you are right, we need to be able to see the signs, but we need to be able to stand for the truth and promote the truth. Each one has to evaluate how they spend their currency of time. Thank you for speaking what I have been thinking.
Hi all I have read all of the comments made about the news that Germany will be instituting a more enforced approach to Sunday observance laws. What does this to me? I believe in all what everyone have said so far that to dwell on only the passage of the Sunday law would be a the wrong reason to serve God.I also believe that we should concentrate on Christ and prepare ourselves in every possible way. But I also believe that the developments in Germany and other parts of the world is not a time to be scared but its a time to be ready or getting ready. If we wait until the passage of the Sunday law in America then it will be to late. EGW also speaks of getting out of the large cities in the book Country Living and it should be done before the passage of the Sunday Law in America.Please don’t think that we have plenty time because the final steps will be rapid one. keep vigilant and be ready.
Yes it is true that we ought not to ‘first’ fix our ‘focus’ solely on the current/coming political issues, for our ‘first’ charge, daily, IS “to keep our eyes fixed upon Jesus”. However, we are ’secondarly’ charged to be ‘watchmen’ (Isaiah 62:6) – knowing what is to come and when, so as to be a reminder and a warning to ourselves and to others. It is a good thing to have a conscience awareness about what’s going on around us. God help us if we didn’t limitedly keep up to par with what all was going on around us. Did not the Apostle Paul keep himself up to par with the political ongoings and whereabouts of his day? I sure wouldn’t want to be caught sleeping (Isaiah 56:10)
Brethren greetings in God’s mighty name! \nI am saddened @ the fact that most of us Adventists spend tym making our point and not making that change needed to make us more like Christ! I am no exception! Let us pray that God helps us conquer our own character flaws. Let us indeed work towards developing a long lasting relationship with God! The world is not in need of convincing through powerful sermons on the pulpit or in our deliberations. The world needs to see Christ reproduced in us! Inspiration says that on COL 69. God has shed a lot of light in this area. Let us take heed! The true character of man is revealed by what he does with what he knows and not what he knows! God be with you all!
I think in The Lords wisdom and mercy he is giving us a \nsign of the times. A wake up call to those of us who are\nasleep and/or Lukewarm Rev.3:15. Be Zealous friends. We \nmust work with the Lord. Oh yes, and get out of the city!
Sorry guys I dont understand why we shud “flee out of the city”??Why? To save your own life? Im not mocking..I just genuinely dont understand.. My own personal thinking of being like Christ is giving up what he gave up…The Creator traded his Throne for a donkey, The safety and holiness of Heaven, to come and dwell with sinners on this diseased planet..His Life, For yours! He never ran when they came for him in Gethsemane. And even in the last few hours of his life bloody and bruised on the Cross, he managed to save a soul!!!We cannot be perfect like Christ while living on this planet surrounded by sin!Be honest to yourselves.. Even Moses who Walked with God FELL on the Boarders of entering the promised land!Learn the lesson from him..He offered to take his name out of the Book of life, just so God could save the whining,murmuring sinful people of Isreal! We need Christlike people to hang around and help to save others IN THE CITY..even if it means being killed…we have nothing to fear…Remember God is with us always..even until the end of the world…Stand up and bear the cross..dont just wear it.. I think that we should have a balanced approach to reading the scriptures, praying, and watching..the Bible speaks of God’s people needing to watch and pray..watch means literally to watch\nBlessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.\nEphesians 6:18\nPraying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;\nWe need to understand the significance of these events. I think that this is a significant event and the world is still sleeping. We can’t worry about things we can’t control..but we can definitely warn people about the coming events to this earth..So I am sorry. I don’t agree with you. not in the least..Balance is key..everything to salvation does not include only love, joy, and peace..there are things to understand and consider in order to defeat the enemy and prepare for Jesus’ coming.
Comments from people like ‘don’t think you are totally right’ and others that talk of a balance are EXACTLY right. This world economy is ripe for collapse. It will be replaced with one currency, one government, and one religion. And there are millions of christians that are of the same opinion, that they just need to be more christ like. Thats fine, BUT! We were given information for THIS time. There are so very many that don’t know where we are in time. They believe this one religion will be a GOOD thing. That the world will go on indefinately. If they are never warned, will they be receptive AFTER the fact? We must hope so. But we MUST stay on top of whats happening around us for our sake AND for theirs. There will be those hunting down the dessenters in the name of GOD thinking they are perfecting their character in Christ. Too much focus on the events is not helpful. Those of us who are mindful of “times and laws” MUST begin to pray for courage, endurance and commitment to the laws of the moist high God. We ought to consider the body as dust, feble and temporary. In light of this, we are left with not much of a choice than to fear the One who is able to destroy the soul even after the enfebled, temporary body is crucified for the word of God. Hope in a new life and the resurection to come must be paramont. Remember, Christ endured it! He spoke of it while He was yet with us. Thy word is truth! I believe!
Kiwi even tough our duty to save lives we are commanded by God to leave the cities into the country. God will marshall his troops to the cities to present the loud cry. We are not to do God’s work, but that he will do the work thru us we need to trust God at his word. when God says things at times we may wander or doubt but we must trust him not looking at human reasoning it not running to the country is obeying God at his word. I have read most of the comments to the article posted by Jared. Indeed we must have discerning eyes, as spiritually things are spiritually discerned. Watch….and pray…It is not to bring fear, but rather as a warning bell to be alert as to what is happening globally to end this world of sin and hail the return of the coming of the Lord. As SDA christians heeding the book of Revelation and EGW’s messages, we know that we must make our calling and election sure, and to surrender ALL to HIM. Let us be strong in the Lord, and be energized by His word and HIS power, so that we may withstand all the wiles of the enemy. There are many scoffers in the last days, even among us, but for those of us who are worshipping in spirit and in truth, we know that GOD is talking to us. Be blessed.

If God merely wanted us to be right with Him He would have said so. Prophecy was not created to merely tell people to be right with God. It is also to tell people that some work needs to be done. They are saying it were better if God didn’t give these warnings at all. We would be very naieve if we would think Adventists themselves would not oppose us if we did try to raise awareness in the United States. We are to be watchmen on the walls of Zion. That does not mean we sound an alarm and say, “Alert! Alert! People are concerned about fast-fulfilling prophecy!” Take your eyes off of God’s people who love and value prophecy and put them on the Lord. Leave them alone. Take your judgments off them.
WHO DO YOU FEAR MORE?
Those who are passing wrong laws, causing the most ridiculous wars and killing people all over the globe?
Or people who are concerned about that and want to raise awareness in order to save lives.
If God wants us to get right with Him, He would say so. His revelations of terrible times are not messages to us that we merely have to be right with Him as so many people seem to know if anyone is concerned about the fast-fulfilling horrible events. There is an automatic assumption that God’s people concerned about such things and working to spark awareness is proof they are not right with God.
When Mordecai heard about the decree of Haaman to destroy the Jews, he wept greatly and sent a copy of the decree to Queen Esther. People among us, if they were there at that time would have intercepted Mordecai giving that copy and warning to Queen Esther.
Be more careful about your concerns. If you are not concerned about the truth being threatened or dangerous forces which are going to cause death and destruction everywhere, allow God to keep you calm when His people spark awareness about these events and fast-fulfilling prophecy. Stop being concerned about God’s people who give respect to his Word and prophecies. It may be that it is you who are not right with God instead of the usual automatic assumption that anyone concerned about fast-fulfilling prophecy is not right with Him.
Dear Jared, I totally agree with your comments on the Sunday Law issue. If we were to read Great Controversy, the chapter captioned America In Prophecy We would see the The Sunday Law would begin in Usa and it will be against God’s commandment keeping people. Quoting from Great Controversy “When the leading churches of the United States, uniting upon such points of doctrines as are held by them in common, shall influence the State to enforce their decrees and to sustain their institutions, then protestant America will have formed an image of the Roman Hierachy, and the infliction of civil penalties upon dissenters will inevitably result.” It further states ” But the beast with the lamblike horns spake as a dragon. And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeththe earth and them that dwell therein to worship the first beast whose deadly wound was healed; saying to them that dwell on the earth that they should make an image to the beast, whose deadly wound was healed; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which the wound by the sourd and did live.Rev.13:11-14. Testimonies volume 5 page 451 says: and I quote
“By the decree enforcing the institution of the papacy in violation of the law of God, our nation (America) will disconnect herself fully from righteousness. When Protestanism shall stretch her hand across the gulf to grasp the hand of the Roman power, when she shall reach over the abyss to clasp hands with spiritualism, when under the influence of this threefold union, our country (USA) shall repudiate every principle of its Constitution as a Prostant republican government and shall make provision for propagation of papal falsehoods and delusions, then we may know that the time has come for the marvelous working of Satan and that the end is near.
Let us all study to make ourselves wise unto salvation.

the question was why should it matter.it matters in this way if we have love then that is the fulfilling of His law.what did Christ die for because without His death none could enter the Kingdom of Heaven.we have to have lawsand the prophecies say certain things will happen because God and Jesus is showing how far THEY will go to give you eternal life ,while satan only gives pain and death ,and death eternal at that.let all of us in all our nationalities get together and tell all what Christ has done for us ,and what we will have .eternal life.love conquers all so tell of the love Jesus and the Father is offering.FREE OF CHARGE.amen
I rejoice to see so many astute observers of the times we live in. Thank you for sharing all your insights to this matter. God has impressed me to share so much. We need not fear. He led me to Joel 2:3 A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea nothing shall escape them. Much like in the time of Noah, he walked so close with God that he listened and built an ark. That ark God used to protect Noah and his family from the wicked crowd outside trying to get in to receive what they should have if they remained in God’s light. Much like Noah building the ark that would be his protection, we need to build our relationship with God to receive protection with the Holy Spirit so we can be surrounded in his fire and led to the promise land. Keep your focus on Him. He gave me a vision of heaven last night. It was a very small taste but oh to miss out on such a peace and a joy would be very foolish. Remain in him and he will remain in you.

I, too, have had dreams of the second Coming. They seem to be more frequent as the signs are screaming that His return is imminent. I truly believe we are to be Watchman on the Wall. I do not want Christ returning and not be ready. Yet, it is most vital that we keep our eyes upon Him. He is our Shepard and our Guide. He will never forsake us or leave us. I love my Lord and Savior so very much! He is my NUMBER ONE! Just think how wonderful it will be to see His most beautiful and glorious shining face. Folk, let us not miss out on this most tremendous event of earth’s history. Soon and very soon we shall see Him.
The sunday law in Germany should mean something to us all. It will affect SDA’s in Germany who have to live under this law…It may affect our work in Germnay as well. Just because we are not yet affected my Sunday laws or brothers and sisters in Germany will be.

As i have been reading the comments people have been making I would like to share a few words for thought.The sunday laws in germany are a wake up call for those of us who are sleeping. Jesus will come when the appointed time is here whether we are ready or not and according to prophecy that time is at the door. as far as country living there have been some misquotes about what what EGW has said. according to her we are to be living in the country BUT going into the cities to evangelize until the time when it will no longer be possible. and why will that be? the answer is simple. because we will no longer be able to buy the gas to drive there but then there will be other work for us to do on foot and if you think about it thats why Jesus gave her the instructions He did. Its very logical. if we are living in the country growing our own food we wont be tempted to take the mark of the beast because we wont have to be buying our own food! it to takes the temtation out of the way! how can we the true church think we can pick and choose which of the counsel we have been given especially given the times we are living in? we can not think we are safe to save just because we go to church on the right day and dont eat pork! just like the bible either we believe it all or we dont belive at all. Jesus gave her the meesage about us moving to the country in 1888 and just like our salvation we can choose it or not, because belive me when you see your children going hungry you will take the mark to feed them so why not do as we have been instructed to do and take us out of harms way now while we still have the chance and move to the country growing our own food now? Sister white says if we are doing this we will be living like kings and queens because we will not have to starve or take the mark. makes sence to me. and remember if He asks us to do it He will find the way for us to be faithful He is just waiting for us to ask.AMEN? Greetings in the mighty name of Jesus. I am so happy to see that there so many others who are keeping their eyes on the times. I have been reading the comments and one stood out to me. Jared my love, my brother in Christ you are right, The Gospel has gone to the whole world from the very first century and yes Christ is working with a people who will allow Him to reproduce His glory in them. But this work will have an effect, when the accuser sees that there are a Job-like people who refuse to sin no matter what he throws at them then he will seek to “force” them to yeild to his way. Just like in the early church, when Satan’s lies were unvieled with the crucifiction of Christ and he sought to destroy the church through persecution and in the 1260 yrs told of in the book of Daniel, the devil will try again.
When Satan realizes that his time is up he will make a last attempt to force the world to serve him. For this to happen he must see a people who are faithful to God in the face of every temptation and trial and therefore drawing attention back to God and His holy law. The Sunday law is Satan’s last attempt to delay God’s return and his inevitable destruction.
However before the law is given, the bible says “judgement begins in the house of God,” which means that to whom much is given much is expected. Those that have been exposed to the light of truth will be judged first. All those who were living up to the light that Christ has been giving and have been putting away sin (cleansing of the inner sanctuary) as it is shown to them by God, these are they who will have allowed Christ to reproduce His sinless character in them.The law will then be passed, closing the door for those who have long known the truth of God but awakening others to the impending crises. Those who have been purified by Christ will recieve an outpouring of the Holy Spirit known as the Latter Rain which will empower them to go forward and give the Loud Cry. Mankind will have one last chance to chose whom they will serve/obey, God or man.
The door of mercy will then close forever, the winds of strife will be unleashed and Christ will come so we can be where He is.
God will not allow us to bear more than we are able and that is why He shows us light so through obedience to His every word we will have gained the victory over every sin and so in His strength stand through the time of trouble that will come upon the earth. Jesus promised that He will finish the work that He started in us, it is in our best interest to submit to His authority fully and pray unceasingly for ourselves and each other that we will draw closer to Christ daily, that He becomes our all and that His will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.
Our church group had a discussion today on Sabbath concerning the Sunday Law in Germany. Some of us vowed to search the Internet for some answers to the German laws. Thus, I stumbled upon this information.
Since I do not possess a television, I rarely hear much news except word of mouth and that appears enough. Furthermore, I am not in the habit of responding to comment forums. However, I believe the Lord is showing me deficiencies in my life and I fear that I remain far away from where I need to be in order to meet Jesus face to face one day soon in the clouds of glory. I only hope and pray I am able to overcome my habits in life.
Meanwhile, I recently heard a sermon that caused me to reconsider the time I spend in the activities of daily life and occupying the time until the return of our Lord. I decided instead of sitting and watching old shows like Beverly Hillbillies, Leave it to Beaver, and Andy Griffin while relaxing after work during an evening meal in front of the computer on the Internet site TVLand.com, that I would turn off the shows and relax at the kitchen table or sitting eating on the couch and contemplating God’s mercies and focusing on prayer and the blessings of life.
Nevertheless, I did not believe these type of innocent shows were that big of a deal,yet he first time I tried to stop watching the shows, my efforts lasted one short week until I gave in and went back to watching my favorite innocent online television shows. Then, on Sabbath the preacher at the church I attended made an altar call and I rededicated my life to the Lord and asked the Lord to put away the things in my life that separate me from Him. That has been about three weeks ago, and praise God, the desire to watch the shows has left my life.
Additionally, the Lord continues opening up my eyes to my spiritual neglects. The Lord sometimes wakes me up early in the morning about 4 a.m. and I pray to God and do things around the place I live. I am trying to do more focused activities in preparation for the Lord’s return by God’s grace. Therefore, I continue praying that the Lord will assist me in redeeming the lost and wasted moments of time in my life.
I believe the Great Controversy between Christ and satan remains clear that the National Sunday Law will begin in the United States. Nevertheless, the question I hear some people asking is why Germany? I too believe a personal relationship with Christ remains paramont in a Seventh Day Adventist’s life.
Wrong… God’s Sabbath Day (Saturday) is changed by man as he said it would. The sunday law will take effect and it could even be the difference between life and death forever for many people. I observe the Sabbath day and with all my heart and yes it would be terrible law. I can’t believe people don’t see it even ones that made up the name 7th day as their religion. What law should be broken, I tell you None…not one law the Sabbath should always be observed and kept Holy as God said.
